For the second year in a row, Footprint cleaning have gone from strength to strength, developing a winning business concept in their mission to keep Broome clean. They’ve generously supported community events including the Broome Christmas Party, Kyle Andrews Foundation and have a strong ethical backbone with employee assistance. Footprint Cleaning also support the environment through conscious choice of sustainable products and have achieved ‘green’ certification. Judges say they ‘blitzed it’ with a perfect score for community engagement.

Just missing out on this category last year, Footprint Cleaning has demonstrated exceptional business development, with commitment to innovation, customer service, staff and local community. Established in 2016, the business has fast become a leading service to the town, growing from 15 clients across 31 locations in June, to 26 clients across 44 facilities. Judges were impressed by the careful planning, hard working ethic and community consciousness of this business.

As an employer, Footprint Cleaning have a genuine commitment to providing employment opportunities to Indigenous Australians, with strategies in place for recruitment, retention, and rewarding their workforce. They encourage professional development with all staff and include all employees in decision making processes and provide a flexible, fun and supportive employment environment. Footprint Cleaning started with 2 employees and grew to 15 with a fluctuating average of 50% who identify as Indigenous. Aaron’s experience developing teams of Aboriginal people continues, with an ongoing commitment toward parity.

The business journey for Footprint Cleaning has been fast and furious, but not without enormous dedication and careful attention by owners Aaron and Taryn Ryan.
In 2017, after just six months in operation Footprint Cleaning was awarded the Start Up Award having already achieved incredible milestones within this short frame of time.
In 2018, Footprint Cleaning was highly commended for the small business award in the 5 to 10 employee category, and won the awards for Community Engagement and Working Together.
Just 2 and a half years into its life, Footprint Cleaning has won two categories, and awarded highly commended for a third.
With five awards, and two highly commended within three years, it’s safe to say that this record is unbeaten and we’re thrilled to acknowledge Footprint Cleaning as an exceptional business with tonight’s inaugural ‘Business of the Year’ award.
